I design products and then I build them.

Portrait of David Victor

I take products from a vague idea to shipped, polished software. I do product design, software engineering, and brand work.

I grew up in Switzerland, then spent my adult life moving through cities, industries, and disciplines. That made me care about context before categories: how a tool is read in the room, what people trust, what they ignore, and what finally becomes part of how they work. I'm most alive when a new tool changes what is possible, usually one of the first people in the room running a demo, sometimes to a fault. AI still feels like that kind of edge to me.

I've led design, product, and engineering teams, and I've spent many years deep in the work and several above it. I think in systems by default: code, design language, the team, and the operating cadence around them. The best work I've done has come from the moments those layers truly inform each other. I've mentored designers into engineers and engineers into product thinkers. We all win when we raise the ceiling for each other.

Right now I run Metamodern. I partner with founders and product teams to build AI-native software, and I teach engineering teams how to code with AI: pairing, internal playbooks. I'm comfortable leading creative direction: branding systems, copywriting, generative-media experiments, in the pursuit of true product voice.

I love working with operator-led teams building with AI, especially ones with clear direction, real standards, and a product surface worth caring about. I'm happy to hunker down in person and build together when the mission is real and the bar is high. I move fast without getting sloppy.
